A
re-cap of 2007 and a look ahead at what 2008 will bring. In 2007
PubWorks was enhanced in countless ways but three highlights stand
out…SQL Server.
Customers now have the option to run PubWorks
on the Microsoft SQL Server database. This allows for greatly improved
software performance and data reliability.
Remote Service Calls.
Want to take your service call records into the field with
you and edit and add new while driving around in your pickup? Well, remote
service calls gives customers this capability.
Work Orders: Planning, Scheduling and
Assignment. Creating maintenance plans for road,
bridges, signs (or any other class of asset in your charge) is now easy to
do in PubWorks. These plans allow you to create work orders
for your crews, and they seamlessly integrate with our cost accounting and
asset management core.
For 2008, we have established the following
software development goals:
• Greatly improved GIS integration
• Remote data collection for fixed assets (roads, signs, bridges, etc…)
• Web-based service calls module
These three initiatives are in the design and
planning stages right now and we encourage you to weigh in with any
suggestions as to what you would like to see included in these products.
In addition to these major development
projects we will, as always, be hard at work making myriad minor
enhancements to PubWorks – mostly based on the feedback we
get from our customers.
