| New City and County Business
|
Since our last newsletter, we’ve had a flurry of new business
– nineteen new agencies have committed to joining the fold (eleven in the US
and eight in Canada). Here, we’ll share a few details about two of these new
customers.
Serving a population of approximately 20,000, the 40 employees of the Public
Service Department of the City of Portsmouth, Ohio are responsible
for snow removal on city streets, traffic lights and signage, vehicle and
equipment maintenance, leaf and brush removal, parks, recreational
facilities and cemeteries, and the cleanliness and upkeep of streets and
alleyways throughout the city. Tracking this work and its associated cost is
a task beyond Excel spreadsheets and simple Access programs; add to that
service requests and citizen complaints (about 200 per month), and the city
knew it had to update and automate its business processes. The decision to
purchase PubWorks was made about three weeks after their
initial inquiry, with installation and training completed three weeks after
that. PubWorks has proved itself to be easy to learn and very
user-friendly even for those who have not had much prior computer/software
experience.
Pemberton Township, New Jersey decided that a user-friendly and
cost-effective Work Order system is what they needed to help better manage
the Public Works department. Tracking service requests and work orders
through to completion, measuring the cost of resource usage and keeping
accurate, easy-to-find records of maintenance on their large road network
were all key considerations but work planning turned out to be the critical
driver. With hundreds of catch basins and a state requirement that they all
be cleaned annually, Pemberton can now rely on PubWorks to
help alert managers as to which catch basins need cleaning and when.
Similarly, proactive work plans will be established for fire extinguishers,
exit lighting or other assets in their charge. Neighboring Willingboro
Township has decided to go with PubWorks for many of the
same reasons.
Our partners in New England and Canada have also been busy getting new
customers going with PubWorks. Ed New York,
Ed Mitchell of
BMSI has
PubWorks installations planned for New York, Connecticut and
Massachusetts.
Alan Macdonald of
Munisoft has
PubWorks installs lined up for eight towns and rural municipalities
in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. We’d like to thank Ed and Alan for their hard
work in bringing in this new business!
