Product News: SQL Server Database for PubWorks
|
|
Since our inception,
PubWorks has used Microsoft Access to store all customer data. We
have been served very well by this reliable and easy to use database
product. But as our customer needs grow, and as the market changes, we need
to change too.
We’ve successfully upgraded our database platform, and we’ve installed
PubWorks with SQL Server for three customers and with Access 2003
for two customers. After a few minor bumps, all five are operating smoothly
with greatly improved performance.
This is very good news!
The move to SQL Server provides customers with two major benefits: (1)
improved network performance/reliability and (2) improved multi-user
performance. These two benefits will be most significant in customer
environments where the volume of data is significant and/or the number of
concurrent users is more than just a few.
For customers wishing to upgrade to SQL Server they have two options: (1)
make use of existing SQL Server installation in your IT environment or (2)
download and install the free Microsoft SQL Server Express.
And while SQL helps move PubWorks forward with larger more
complex customer applications, the fact that we’re also continuing with
Microsoft Access for small and single user customers should be comforting
news. For more implementation and pricing details please contact
