New City and County Business
Since the last issue of The Tracker, quite a few new
customers have come on board. In Arizona, Greenlee
County has selected PubWorks – this
gives us five of the fifteen Arizona counties and
they all happen to be contiguous!
We’ve also added five city customers: Pasadena, CA;
City of Negaunee, MI; Village of Montgomery, IL and
Miami Township Ohio.
In Canada, our partner MuniSoft has successfully
installed PubWorks in the Rural
Municipality of Hillsdale and Pincher Creek – both
located in the Province of Saskatchewan
Please read on to learn why these agencies bought
PubWorks and how they putting PubWorks to the test
in order to meet their needs. In a recent survey,
Account Exec Philip McGrath interviewed some of our
newest customers and they shared their early
experiences with TSC and PubWorks.
Platte County, MO
How is it going?
Everyone is happy to have a user-friendly Windows
program and has found a lot of advantages within
PubWorks.
How are you using PubWorks?
Asset management, Fleet maintenance and tracking
service requests are most beneficial to Platte
County with the ability to provide reports for
invoicing intergovernmental agencies and private
groups and individuals. Reporting with labor,
materials and parts provides easy invoicing for
other County Departments, documentation for
restitution for damages, auditing, etc. We like the
MORE button within the Service Call window, used to
attach scanned receipts, e-mail correspondence and
other pertinent information.
How is PubWorks making life better?
Windows based programming is new to our Department
and we think it is great. User friendly filter
options provide reports sensitive to the needs of
the user. Accuracy is increased with appropriate
user settings and the capacity to easily edit
errors.
What were your reasons for buying PubWorks?
PubWorks is a cost effective approach
to cost accounting and asset management in a
user-friendly, windows based environment with
editing and reporting abilities.
How do you plan to use PubWorks and
what problems will it help you solve?
Platte County plans to reduce the time required for
data entry, employee training and cumbersome report
composition while being more cost effective and
productive.
What was your early reaction to PubWorks?
Staff here agrees that this is PROGRESS. Progress is
change and change is not always easy. Without
progress we are not successful. So, thank you to TSC
for helping us be a success.
City of Monroe, OH
How is it going?
Very well.
How are you using PubWorks?
Service call tracking (i.e. pot-holes, dead animals,
storm drainage, water main problems). We check
PubWorks’ Open Calls screen in the
morning, print them out, the assignee takes this to
the field, resolves the reported problem, and
returns with the information needed to close the
call. This same information is entered into
PubWorks’ Daily Activities screen which
quickly and easily allows us to determine the cost
to resolve any particular problem or problem type.
We are required to submit a report to City Council
once a month that shows our monthly activities,
jobs, and costs. This was difficult and time
consuming before, but with PubWorks…it
takes just a couple mouse-clicks.
How is PubWorks making life better?
Our processes are much more streamlined now and
PubWorks helps us keep people in the
loop. Because it’s so easy to use, our Managers,
Supervisors, and elected officials can track Project
costs, Call statistics, or anything else they
want…whenever they want.
What were your reasons for buying PubWorks?
Excel became too cumbersome to get the reports and
analysis we needed.
How do you plan to use PubWorks and
what problems will it help you solve?
We will soon start tracking vehicle/equipment use
costs.
What was your early reaction to PubWorks?
We liked PubWorks right at first. We
found it very straight forward and easy to
use…especially for those of us not familiar with
computers or software.
Village of Montgomery, IL
How is it going?
Excellent.
How are you using PubWorks?
We are phasing-in our use of PubWorkss
and are currently tracking 25-30 Service Calls per
day. Our typical call types are pot-holes, dead
animals, water quality, and water testing; but our
internal customers (other Village employees) also
use PubWorks to request Building
Maintenance and Improvements.
How is PubWorks making life better?
PubWorks has improved our overall
efficiency, follow-up, and citizen satisfaction. Our
elected officials and managers have improved access
to the information in PubWorks and can
answer questions quickly rather than having to
call-back.
What were your reasons for buying PubWorks?
Citizen follow-up was very difficult with our old
paper system.
How do you plan to use PubWorks and
what problems will it help you solve?
We plan to start tracking activities and general
maintenance costs.
What was your early reaction to PubWorks?
We found PubWorks to be user friendly
even for those that usually resist new technology.
It’s now easy for our Village Manager to check
Service Call performance and status. We have also
found PubWorks to be very easy to
manage and administer…like changing user settings
and access privileges.

We work hard to make new sales at TSC, but we work
harder to accommodate the needs of our customers and
because of that, PubWorks grows and
improves with each new installation.
Your success is our success.
Are you wondering if PubWorks would
fit into your specific situation? We bet it can,
just give
