The core of PubWorks is your asset inventory. These
equipment
and
location
assets (roads, streets, buildings, grounds, parks, bridges, etc...) are your
primary responsibility. PubWorks makes it easy to create an asset
inventory and then record information about the work performed to maintain
these assets. Additionally, PubWorks comes with the tools you need to
implement the accepted GASB 34 valuation, quality assessment and reporting
requirements:

Depreciation Method
With
PubWorks, depreciation schedules are very easy to create for any asset
in your inventory. It's just a matter of entering the equipment or
location's initial value, scrap value, useful life and start year. Then pick
one of the three depreciation calculation methods below and a depreciation
schedule is instantly produced.
Three depreciation methods are supported:
- Straight line depreciation method
- Double declining balance method
- Sum-of-the-years digits method
Modified Approach
PubWorks has a pavement quality index (PQI) calculator that can be easily applied
to any and all of the assets you manage. It's easy and straightforward to establish PQI values for each
of your assets with just a few mouse clicks. The PubWorks database comes complete with
a set of quality condition descriptors (to which you can add, modify or delete as you wish). You select the descriptors
that are appropriate for the asset in question, assign a relative weight and a quality value and
PubWorks does the rest.
PubWorks
also possesses the reports you need to support the requirements of the
GASB 34 depreciation method - this makes using the depreciation method fast,
easy and accurate.
